ITINERARY:
CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – LAGUNA HUMANTAY – CUSCO
Uno Traveler Peru will assist you at your hotel in Cusco. Afterwards, you will take a trip of approximately 3 hours to the community of Soraypampa (3,900 masl / 12,795 feet), located near the snow-capped Apu Salkantay. Here we will enjoy a nutritious breakfast surrounded by beautiful mountains with unique and charming landscapes. After breakfast, our guide will give us some recommendations to avoid feeling the effects of the hike at altitude. Consequently, we will begin our ascent along an uphill path. On the way, we will have the opportunity to observe the mountain called Apu Salkantay (6,270 masl / 20,565 feet), also considered a Sacred Mountain since ancient times and the second highest peak in the Cusco region. On the way, we will have some stops for a short rest. After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes we will arrive at the surroundings of the beautiful Humantay Lagoon (4,200 masl / 16,470 feet), this beautiful lagoon was formed by the melting snow of the Humantay Mountain (5,470 masl / 174,941 feet) and due to the presence of some minerals it has a turquoise color. Once there you will have enough time to explore this beautiful place and of course take the best photographic scenes for a memorable memory. Before returning our guide from Uno Traveler Peru will give you an explanation about the importance of the mountains and lagoons for our ancestors, teaching you a small ceremony of gratitude to the Apus (Sacred Mountains) and Pachamama (Mother Earth) based on Coca leaves. After having enjoyed this natural attraction we begin our descent to the starting point, to board our vehicle that will transport us to the town of Mollepata where we will make a stop to enjoy a delicious lunch, after having tasted our typical lunch of our region we return to the city of Cusco (around 5 pm).
