TOUR ITINERARY, CHINCHERO MORAY WITH MACHUPICCHU

🌄 DAY 01: MAGICAL VALLEY – MACHUPICCHU CHINCHERO – MORAY SALINERAS – AGUAS CALIENTES: CHINCHERO: Responsible Treks Peru takes you to the Archaeological Park of Chinchero, a meadow in the Andes, 30 km northeast of the city of Cusco, located at 3,750 meters above sea level. It has a set of agricultural terraces, dwellings, deposits, ceremonial centers, and sacred enclosures. Considered the ancient capital of potato production, Here, a group of indigenous women will demonstrate the production and elaboration of textiles with ancestral techniques and inputs, which are used for the making of different garments. Here, the locals also proudly practice the ancestral language of the Incas, Quechua. MORAY: The Archaeological Site of Moray is located 50 km northeast of the city of Cusco at 3,500 meters above sea level (11,480 feet) on a high plateau just west of the town of Maras in the Andes of Peru. Moray is considered one of the largest agricultural laboratories of the ancient civilization of the Andes of South America. Here, various varieties of potatoes, corn, and other grains were obtained to be cultivated in the immense agricultural areas throughout the territory of Tahuantinsuyo. The salt mines that are still used from pre-Inca times have become a very important resource for the communities in the area. Upon arriving at the place, our Professional Guide from Responsible Treks Peru will give a detailed explanation of the entire process of how salt is obtained, which is generated from an underground water current to fill thousands of wells, and through the process of solidification and gasification, it leaves crystals of pure salt, which will be marketed in local and international markets.
