Resumen del recorrido

All You Need to Know About This Tour

SALINERAS: After exploring the beautiful setting of Moray, the staff of Responsible Treks Peru will take you to the surroundings of the Maras Salt Mines located 50 km northeast of the city of Cusco at an altitude of 3,200 meters (10,496 feet). These salt mines have been used since pre-Inca times and have become a very important resource for the local communities. Upon arrival, our Professional Guide from Responsible Treks Peru will provide a detailed explanation of the salt extraction process, which involves water from an underground stream filling thousands of wells. Through the process of solidification and gasification, pure salt crystals are formed, which are then sold in local and international markets.

MORAY: The Archaeological Site of Moray is located 50 km northeast of the city of Cusco at an altitude of 3,500 meters (11,480 feet). Situated on a high plateau just west of the town of Maras in the Peruvian Andes, Moray is considered one of the largest agricultural laboratories of the ancient Andean civilization of South America. Here, different varieties of potatoes, corn, and other grains were cultivated to be grown in the vast agricultural areas throughout the territory of Tahuantinsuyo. Some plants and flowers were also domesticated for domestic, medicinal, and religious uses. This is your best option to visit and explore Moray. Our Professional Guide from Responsible Treks Peru will provide a beautiful description of this charming Inca Site.

CHINCHERO: Responsible Treks Peru takes you to the Archaeological Park of Chinchero, located in the Andean prairie, 30 km northeast of the city of Cusco, at an altitude of 3,750 meters (12,300 feet). It features a set of agricultural terraces, dwellings, deposits, ceremonial centers, and sacred enclosures. Considered the ancient capital of potato production, here, a group of indigenous women will demonstrate the production and elaboration of textiles using ancestral techniques and materials, which are also used for making various garments. The locals proudly practice the ancestral language of the Incas, Quechua.
